I refrained from complaining about this in the review, because even I understand it's an awfully minor point, but I'm pretty sure cameos were more of a Victorian fad than a Regency one....

Don't worry! Ann Radcliffe influences, yes. Anne Rice, not so much.

...okay, there might have been a little Twilight sneaking in there, but it's hardly noticeable.
