Anita Blake: the movie?!

Cable network IFC is working with Lionsgate to produce a TV movie based on the Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter books. It is the network's first theatrical-length movie production, it will be aimed at men ages 18-34, and they're planning to air it next year.

Wow. Just... wow.

It's being aimed at men? The producers are making comparisons to True Blood and Buffy? Has anybody at IFC actually read these books—at least, the most recent ones? Because I don't think they are all that suitable for cable.

Not even late-night cable.
