I am way behind on my reading- the huge pile of books on my night stand is threatening to topple over and bury me in my sleep. I keep promising myself that I'll get started once the election insanity is over this week, but we'll see. Anyway, here are a few of the titles I can remember from the stack beside my bed.

This is the only book I've actually started- I'm about 30 pages in and loving it! It is a funny, sexy courtroom drama with a great mismatched pair of lawyers. Steve Solomon, a ambulance-casing lawyer, pairs up with Victoria Lord, a high society Yale Law grad, to defend Katrina Barksdale, a tennis buddy of Victoria’s who is being tried for the murder of her much older husband... who died during a romp in bed that got out of hand. If the first 30 pages are any indication, this is going to be a great read.

While stranded in the JFK airport a few months ago I ran across "An Offer He Can't Refuse " by Christie Ridgway. I picked this title up because it had one of those quotes about how much Jenny Cruise loved the book. Since Crusie is one of my favorite authors, I figured it couldn't go too wrong. Anyway, I absolutely loved the book and am planning on writing an author review for Ridgway as soon as I get the chance- meanwhile I picked up a few of her older books from my local used bookstore and I can’t wait to dive in. Ms. Ridgway is definitely worth checking out!

I have been holding on to this book since the week it came out in August. I was really excited about the book and the reviews I have read have been good... but I just can’t seem to start reading it. This is the second book in Christopher’s trilogy about the dragon rider Eragon and his dragon Saphira. Eh... I tend to be more the in the mood to start epic-type books when it is all cold and wintery, and it's currently a lovely 70 degrees here in Ohio. But once the snow hits I am all over this book!
See? And that just touches the top of the pile that is looming over my bedside. I'll have to dig a little deeper into the mountain for next week's bookshelf update. I should be back tomorrow with some rumors about what some of our favorite Wordcandy authors are working on for the new year.
