All good things

*heaves a happy sigh*

Well, dear readers, Nodame Cantabile, one of my all-time favorite manga series, has finally come to an end. It took eight years and a 136 chapters (and I'm holding out hope for some kind of epilogue), but it had a brilliant run. My sincere thanks go out to series creator Tomoko Ninomiya, and I'm looking forward to the final anime/drama adaptations!

Annnd she's back!

Er... again.

After her second (maybe third?) significant health issue in the past year or so, Nodame Cantabile creator Tomoko Ninomiya has announced that she will resume producing chapters of the manga later this month. Ninomiya has been recovering from acute appendicitis, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery... followed, hopefully, by a very long spell of good health.

Nodame Cantabile: the saga continues

AnimeNewsNetwork has some info on the upcoming third season of the animated version of Nodame Cantabile, which is scheduled to air next January*. The animation and character design for this series has been first-rate (plus it's wonderful to actually hear the music), so I'm really excited about it.

*Which means I'm choosing to view it as a personal birthday gift from the Nodame author to me. Thanks, Ninomiya-san!

More health troubles for Nodame creator

According to AnimeNewsNetwork, the next installment of Tomoko Ninomiya's Nodame Cantabile will delayed because Ms. Ninomiya has been rushed to the hospital to treat acute appendicitis. The manga's return date will be announced in Kiss Magazine once the author's health has improved.

Best wishes for a quick recovery, Ms. Ninomiya!

More Nodame!

In happier manga-related news, AnimeNewsNetwork says that Nodame Cantabile creator Tomoko Ninomiya is planning to launch a new manga miniseries called Noda-Can BS (short for "Nodame Cantabile Backstage") in the September issue of Kodansha's Kiss Plus magazine. Each installment will be four pages long, and focus on supporting characters in the series.

...unfortunately, we'll have to pay more to read it, but even that can't cast much of a damper over this news.

Woot! (Part III)

Seriously. Today is a very good day, guys.

Last but not least: Wordcandy favorite Nodame Cantabile will resume, starting in the March 10th issue of the magazine Kiss. The series has been on a several-month-long hiatus (due to creator Tomoko Ninomiya's maternity leave, followed by a diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome), and we've really missed it, so this is awesome news.

Nodame Cantabile: an update

A Japanese-speaking poster on the LiveJournal community The S Orchestra has posted a notice regarding Nodame Cantabile creator Tomoko Ninomiya's health: it appears she's been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, which explains why she's been slow to return to work.

I don't know anything about carpal tunnel, but it seemed weird that it would become an issue after Ms. Ninomiya has taken several months off from drawing, due to her maternity leave. However, I looked it up, and apparently carpal tunnel is frequently associated with pregnancy. Who knew?

Anyway, we hope Ms. Ninomiya feels better soon!
