Tim Burton has apparently made plans to direct a 3-D stop-motion film based on the original Addams Family cartoons by Charles Addams. I'd probably feel better about this if I hadn't been so underwhelmed by Alice in Wonderland, or if I thought that anybody, anywhere could ever top Christina Ricci's performance as Wednesday Addams.

I highly doubt that anyone could come close to Christina Ricci's Wednesday Addams.
It would be nice if Burton quit doing remakes and did original works or adaptations of things that have not yet been adapted to movies. I really like some of his work, but it is painful to compare his Charlie & The Chocolate Factory to the first movie adaptation, Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, and I suspect that this new movie would encourage the same kinds of comparisons and come similarly lacking.
Also, I'm sure that there are many delightful stories just waiting for some prominent director to come along and make them famous, including darkly fantastical tales that would be right up Burton's alley.

True. Or if he wants to re-do something with his own spin on it, there are several classic fairy tales that could stand a de-Disney-fying. (A Cinderella with fewer hair-styling birds and more chopping off of toes and heels, for example.) But I would LOVE to see a decent film version of Joan Aiken's 'The Wolves of Willoughby Chase', and you'd think he could do something cool with that.
