According to
this article in the
Daily Mail, broadcasters will be showing a brand-spanking-new adaptation of Thomas Hardy's
Tess of the d'Urbervilles (you know, the book about the hard-working, pious girl who is raped by her employer and abandoned by her husband and eventually executed) as "as a tonic to the gloomy economic outlook".
Note to self: Never take a tonic for
anything from a
Daily Mail staff member.
