Written by a food historian and an Austen scholar, The Jane Austen Cookbook features discussion of Austen's novels and letters as well as recipes, many of which have been adapted to the modern kitchen (including, apparently, a recipe for "Wine-Roasted Gammon and Pigeon Pie").
